Compass is what we call our
college/university-age ministry here at First Baptist Church. Our
Compass ministry was designed with the purpose of helping to strengthen
and assist college age students in the crucial years after high school.
We like the symbolism and what the compass can
represent in our lives. First, a compass assists us in knowing what
direction we are going. Second, we have taken points of the compass and
adapted them to form the foundation of our ministry. Using the four
points of the compass, we are adapting North, South, East and West into
these characteristics: Nurturing, Encouraging, Scripture and
Witnessing. These are our focal points that direct our ministry to
college age students.
Bible Study and group time take
place every Sunday morning at 9:15 am in the lobby of the Family Life
Center. We start with an informal social time and then study God’s Word
through lessons or by video. Some recent subjects have been Recognizing
Potential Mates, Jesus Among Other Gods, A Case For Christ, sharing
your faith with others and the Book of James.
Compass
ministry events include praise and worship nights, movie nights, minor
league baseball games and other activities that provide time together
while helping build community among our college age students.
